MT DARE SUMMER OPENING HOURS

FROM JANUARY 1ST TO 15TH MARCH WE WILL BE OPEN FROM 8.00 AM TO 7.00 PM DAILY.
PLEASE CALL AHEAD IF POSSIBLE AS WE SOMETIMES HAVE TEMPORARY DAY CLOSURES.
THE CAMPGROUND AND FACILITIES ARE ALWAYS OPEN.

Mt Dare Hotel is ideally situated on the Western edge of the Simpson Desert just 10km south of the Northern Territory border. We are at a cross road for travellers, visit Ayers Rock (Uluru) to the west, Alice Springs to the north, Queensland via the Simpson to the east and the Oodnadatta track and the Flinders Rangers to the south.

There is a UHF Repeater (Ch 6) for your safety which covers from New Crown Homestead (north) to Stephenson Creek (south) and half way to Dalhousie, Mt Dare Hotel monitors this channel. Use it only to contact the hotel or where long distance (greater than 10 km) communication is required, NOT for vehicle to vehicle communication.

Most tracks with the exception of the Simpson Desert require minimal 4wd experience and are accessible by popular all wheel drive vehicles. If you do wish to tackle the Simpson moderate 4wd experience and a high clearance 4 wheel drive are necessary.
Be aware that the Simpson Desert tracks can be difficult at times and your vehicle needs to be well prepared and serviced before attempting a crossing. See Road and Track Conditions for more details.
Also be aware that if you need assistance in the desert, your Roadside Assistance cover with your Auto club will probably not cover you while you are in the desert. There are companies that offer that cover and should be considered as recoveries can be costly. 'Club 4x4' is one that will offer different levels of cover with their car insurance. It would pay to do some research.

A Park Pass is required to visit the Mt Dare Hotel and to visit or stay at Dalhousie Springs and can be purchased online or at Mt Dare. A Desert Pass is required for the Simpson Desert and can be purchased from the Pub.

We have a great range of services and supplies that we are constantly improving to meet the demands of the Outback traveller, so come and say g'day to Graham, Sandra and family & staff.
